What we talked about:

The Origins of Lady Beard
Lady Beard, originally from Adelaide, Australia, started off his professional career as a voice actor and stunt man. After struggling to find acting work in Australia he decided to take his talents to Hong Kong. What he originally planned to be a 3 month trip turned into 6 years. He started work in Hong Kong as a stunt actor, often playing the antagonist role in Chinese Kung-fu movies. He also was involved in other jobs such as dubbing animations.
The Rise of Lady Beard: Wrestling and Heavy Metal
The economic crisis of 2008 had a big impact on everyone, particularly those in the entertainment industry. For Lady Beard, this meant searching for a new work. His next opportunity came from an encounter at a heavy metal show. He jumped into the wrestling scene, and just one month later, he stepped into the ring, dressed in a skirt and wearing makeup. Cross-dressing had always been something Lady Beard enjoyed for fun at rock & roll concerts and parties, but this time, he decided to bring this look and a persona to his wrestling career. These six years in Hong Kong sculpted Lady Beard into the performer we know today.
Lady Beard’s Evolution in Japan and Idol Culture
Lady Beard began stepping into the music scene while in Hong Kong, using his love for rock & roll to create heavy metal remixes of Cantonese pop songs. This led to him touring in Taiwan and Japan, where he performed metal covers of Japanese songs. With Japan’s famous Idol and Kawaii culture embracing his unique style, Lady Beard saw an opportunity for career advancement and decided to make the move.

He joined the pop group LadyBaby alongside two idols, with their hit “Nippon Manju” marking his first step toward global recognition. Since then, Lady Beard has navigated the challenges of balancing life as an Idol and a Heavy Metal singer. Currently performing with the group Baby Beard, Lady Beard continues to set ambitious music goals while engaging in other creative projects, such as the “Cat with Beard” podcast.
