Our Vision

Our vision is to build a workplace where everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression, can thrive and achieve their full potential. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our employees, customers, and stakeholders.

Work With Pride Gold Ranking

In 2024, ZenGroup received a Gold ranking from the PRIDE Index for LGBTQ Workplace Initiatives.

The PRIDE Index is Japan’s first evaluation index for corporate and organizational efforts towards LGBTQ+ and other sexual minorities, established in 2016 by the voluntary group Work With Pride. It consists of five criteria: Policy (action declaration), Representation (stakeholder community), Inspiration (awareness activities), Development (HR systems & programs), and Engagement/Empowerment (social contribution & external activities). Points are awarded for meeting specific requirements in each criterion, and companies and organizations are recognized as Rainbow, Gold, Silver, or Bronze based on their scores.

Our Initiatives

To achieve this vision, we have implemented a range of initiatives designed to support and empower our LGBTQ+ employees. These initiatives include:

Inclusive Policies and Practices

We have established an internal network to protect against discrimination and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Employee Resource Groups

Our PRIDE Committee (ERG) provides a supportive network for LGBTQ+ employees and allies, offering opportunities for connection and organization.

Training and Education

We offer regular training sessions to educate our workforce about LGBTQ+ issues and the importance of allyship.

We also support various declarations, including those promoting the legalization of same-sex marriage (Business for Marriage Equality – BME) and discussions to relax requirements in the Gender Identity Disorder Special Cases Act.

Employees self-identifying as LGBTQ+

In our survey results, 9% of ZenGroup members identified as members of the LGBTQ+ community.

LGBTQ+ members in management roles

Of the ZenGroup members that self-identified as LGBTQ+, 25% were in management roles.

Employees who received marriage benefits

100% of employees in same-sex marriages who applied for marriage benefits have received them.

PRIDE Club

With 24 members, PRIDE Club is the second largest club at ZenGroup.

The PRIDE Club is a social club where people can get to know each other and have a safe and supportive community of LGBTQ+ individuals and allies without the need for coming out.
For this reason, not all activities are specifically LGBTQ+ focused, and are instead chosen to build a sense of community.

Some recent PRIDE Club events include:

  • Attending the Osaka Rainbow Festa
  • Walking in the Kansai Rainbow Parade
  • Film viewings
  • Dinner parties
  • Visiting a dog cafe

To increase and visualize allies, we create and distribute stickers to interested employees. An “ally” refers to someone who understands and supports LGBTQ+ individuals.
