What are your main responsibilities?
I handle overall digital marketing targeting overseas audiences. This includes ad management, social media management, and simple creative production. I also participate in meetings with existing clients and propose marketing measures.
Which tools and platforms do you use daily?
I mostly use marketing platforms and tools, particularly Meta and Google Ads.
How do you prioritize your tasks?
Among the tasks received from clients, I prioritize the measures and tasks that directly lead to sales improvement.
Team Collaboration
What’s your team like?
ZenPromo is a department similar to a digital advertising agency. Our clients are Japanese companies. The sales team consists mostly of members from Japan, while the marketing team has many members from overseas.
What are the unique points about your team?
A distinctive feature is that we target the global market and utilize any available digital marketing tools. I believe it is a team where you can endlessly expand your potential as a cross-border marketer while aligning with the clients’ requests.
Do you collaborate with other departments at ZenGroup?
The marketing team often collaborates with the sales team and other departments when making new proposals or creating designs. We deepen our cooperation with the sales team, who connects us with our clients, and advance our projects while communicating with them daily.
Learning and Development
How do you stay updated on the latest trends in your position?
Sometimes I do research during work, but I also frequently catch up by watching videos and reading articles related to marketing and global affairs outside of work.
What are you doing for self-improvement?
Outside of work, I mainly focus on studying English. Since there are many situations where we use English for overseas marketing and communicating within the team, I feel that improving my English skills leads to better daily work performance and personal growth. I try to study consistently every day, focusing mainly on input using videos and vocabulary books.
Work-Life Balance
How do you manage your work-life at ZenGroup?
I consider work as a part of life and do not strictly separate the two. By actively seeking out work that I find somewhat enjoyable and rewarding, I can maintain peace of mind even when my working hours become slightly longer.
Do you have any tips for maintaining productivity and avoiding burnout?
I believe it is important to proactively take on tasks where your abilities can be easily demonstrated. Also, I think having moderately challenging daily goals with a bit of pressure can help reduce the chances of burnout.
Memorable Experiences
Can you share a memorable experience or success in your role?
There was a client whose cross-border sales had been stagnant before we joined, but we achieved a 10-fold increase in sales within half a year. The experience of realizing growth while communicating with the sales team and the client gave me a great sense of accomplishment.
Personal Insights
What do you enjoy most about your job?
What I enjoy most is the process of formulating and testing hypotheses. In digital marketing, users’ behaviors on ads, social media, and websites are visible in detailed metrics, making it easy to create hypotheses like “This messaging might get a good response” or “This target audience might lead to better results,” and it is exciting to be able to test them immediately. As I repeat the verification process, seeing numbers improve or discovering unexpected user reactions makes the work highly rewarding. Moreover, since reactions in overseas marketing vary greatly depending on the country or culture, the ability to continuously think about “how to communicate to convey the value” is another great appeal of this job.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in your position?
Digital marketing has a very broad scope. It allows you to dive deep into a single area, with some becoming generalists who broadly manage various solutions, while others become specialists in specific fields. Since the required skills differ by field, I think it is important to actively raise your hand and participate in various projects to discover what you are good at.
